Azzam is an Arabic word that translates to “resolute” and is also the name of what is widely regarded as the world’s longest private yacht. Azzam was commissioned by Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the UAE. Estimates put the cost of building this yacht at around 605 million US dollars. It is 590 feet in length and is capable of cruising around warm waters at high speeds. One unusual feature of the Azzam is its unusually small draft, which is the depth of water a ship needs to float. Its draft is only 14 feet! The Esso Atlantic and its sister ship Esso Pacific were one of only seven ships in history to surpass a carrying capacity of over half a million tons. It had accomplished this feat years before many of the more modern super cargo ships were even constructed. They were first built in 1977 and served for 35 years before being decommissioned in 2002. That is a pretty long life for a super cargo ship! The MV Blue Marlin is the mother of all cargo ships. It’s the ship you call when you need to ship a ship across the world. It is 712 feet long and 138 feet deep. It has a deck that’s equivalent in size to two soccer fields. It once carried 22 barges across the ocean from South Korea to the Netherlands. Another time it carried the Sea-Based X-Band Radar which is a 49,600 US ton rig. The biggest piece of cargo it has towed however is probably the Thunder Horse BP oil rig. It carried the 59,500 ton rig from South Korea to Corpus Christi, Texas. The TI Class Supertankers are a fleet of oil tanker ships that belong to Tankers International L.L.C. The fleet includes 4 ships that are called the TI Africa, TI Asia, TI Europe, and TI Oceania and are sometimes collectively referred to as “The Fantastic Four”. Each ship is designed to transport crude oil and weighs 517, 660 tons when fully loaded. When at full capacity one tanker can hold 3,166,353 barrels worth of oil. Of the four originally built in 2002 - 2003 only two are still active: TI Europe and TI Oceania. In 2015, the ship which is now widely regarded as the world’s largest container ship was christened. The MSC Oscar is an ultra-large cargo carrier ship that belongs to the Mediterranean Shipping Company. It was built in South Korea for 140 million US Dollars and now ships cargo all around the world. It is 240 feet high, 194 feet wide, and more impressively, 1, 297 feet long. If this ship was standing upright, it would be taller than the Empire State Building! The Oscar is capable of holding 19,224 standard shipping containers, which is what got it recognized as the world’s largest carrier ship in volume. The USS Enterprise (CVN-65) is a currently inactive United States Navy aircraft carrier. It was the world’s very first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier but the eighth vessel to have its name. She is 1,123 feet in length, which makes her the longest vessel built for the US Navy. Before being taken out of service in 2012, she was also the third oldest naval vessel in commission, being originally constructed in 1969. It was for a while considered to turn the carrier into a floating museum, but because of its two nuclear reactors, it wasn’t deemed practical or safe to do so. Instead, all of the electrical systems were turned off or removed, and part of the hull was cut open so that the reactors could be safely taken out.

The VM-T was modified to carry rocket boosters and the Soviet space shuttles of the Buran program. It is also known as the 3M-T. Russia Listeni/ˈrʌʃə/ or /ˈrʊʃə/ (Russian: Россия, tr. Rossiyskaya Federatsiya, IPA: [rɐˈsʲijskəjə fʲɪdʲɪˈrat͡sɨjə] ( listen)), is a country in northern Eurasia.[11] It is a federal semi-presidential republic, comprising 83 federal subjects. From northwest to southeast, Russia shares land borders with Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland (both with Kaliningrad Oblast), Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, and North Korea. It shares maritime borders with Japan by the Sea of Okhotsk and the US state of Alaska across the Bering Strait. At 17,075,400 square kilometres (6,592,800 sq mi), Russia is the largest country in the world, covering more than one-eighth of the Earth's inhabited land area. Russia is also the world's ninth most populous nation with 143 million people as of 2012.[12] Extending across the entirety of northern Asia and much of Europe, Russia spans nine time zones and incorporates a wide range of environments and landforms. The Russian Air Force (Russian: Военно-воздушные cилы России, tr. Voyenno-vozdushnye sily Rossii) is the aerial warfare service branch of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. It is currently under the command of Lieutenant General Viktor Bondarev. The Russian Navy has its own air arm, the Russian Naval Aviation, which is the former Soviet Aviatsiya Voyenno Morskogo Flota ("Naval Aviation"), or AV-MF). The Air Force was formed from parts of the former Soviet Air Forces after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991--92. Boris Yeltsin's creation of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation on 7 May 1992, can be taken as a convenient formation date for the new Air Force. Since that time, the Air Force has suffered severe setbacks due to lack of resources, and has constantly shrunk in size. Since Vladimir Putin became President of the Russian Federation however, much more money has been allocated to the Armed Forces as a whole. The United States Air Force (USAF) is the aerial warfare service branch of the United States Armed Forces and one of the seven American uniformed services. Initially part of the United States Army, the USAF was formed as a separate branch of the military on 18 September 1947 under the National Security Act of 1947.[5] It is the most recent branch of the U.S. military to be formed, and is the largest and one of the world's most technologically advanced air forces. The USAF articulates its core functions as Nuclear Deterrence Operations, Special Operations, Air Superiority, Global Integrated ISR, Space Superiority, Command and Control, Cyberspace Superiority, Personnel Recovery, Global Precision Attack, Building Partnerships, Rapid Global Mobility and Agile Combat Support.[6] The United States of America (USA or U.S.A.), commonly referred to as the United States (US or U.S.), America, or simply the States, is a federal republic[10][11] consisting of 50 states and a federal district. The 48 contiguous states and the federal district of Washington, D.C. are in central North America between Canada and Mexico. The state of Alaska is the northwestern part of North America, west of Canada and east of Russia which is across the Bering Strait in Asia, and the state of Hawaii is an archipelago in the mid-North Pacific. The country also has five populated and nine unpopulated territories in the Pacific and the Caribbean. The Airbus A380 is a double-deck, wide-body, four-engine jet airliner. It is the world's largest passenger airliner; many airports have upgraded their facilities to accommodate it because of its size. Initially named Airbus A3XX, Airbus designed the aircraft to challenge Boeing's monopoly in the large-aircraft market; the A380 made its first flight on 27 April 2005 and began commercial service in October 2007 with Singapore Airlines. The Lockheed Martin/Boeing F-22 Raptor is a single-seat, twin-engine fifth-generation supermaneuverable fighter aircraft that uses stealth technology. It was designed primarily as an air superiority fighter, but has additional capabilities that include ground attack, electronic warfare, and signals intelligence roles.[5] Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is the prime contractor and is responsible for the majority of the airframe, weapon systems and final assembly of the F-22.

In this regard, Ankara’s industrial military cooperation with fellow Muslim countries like Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia could serve as a showcase for marketing Turkish-made weapons in South and Southeast Asia. Tanks, submarines, warships… Turkey has so far been a relatively modest arms supplier, with Pakistan and Malaysia being its top defense customers in South and Southeast Asia, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute. From 2000 to 2016, Ankara delivered $179 million and $142 million worth of arms systems to Kuala Lumpur and Islamabad respectively. The Malaysian government bought armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, and Pakistan’s single biggest acquisition was a navy fleet tanker manufactured by Turkish shipbuilder STM. Turkish defense giant Roketsan is now ready to sell Pakistan its UMTAS medium-range anti-tank weapon system, Pakistani and Turkish media reported last week. Ankara’s Ministry of Defence hopes this sale will be part of a big-ticket package that includes Turkish Aerospace IndustriesT-129 attack helicopter. Last month, Ankara and Islamabad inked a memorandum of understanding for the transfer of four Turkish-built MILGEM Ada-class corvettes. It is said they will be jointly produced in Pakistan and used by the Pakistani navy to protect both Gwadar and Karachi ports from potential external attacks. Turkey’s industrial defense partnership with Malaysia and Indonesia is focused on tanks and submarines. Malaysian company Etika Strategi, in cooperation with Turkey’s BMC and Germany’s Rheinmetall AG, is pushing hard to win a multi-billion contract for the serial production of the Altay tank, the prototype of which has been developed for Ankara’s military by Turkish armored vehicles producer Otokar. Turkey’s FNSS and Indonesia’s PT Pindad displayed the prototype of their jointly developed KAPLAN MT medium-weight tank at the International Defense Industry Fair in Istanbul in May. The KAPLAN MT is mostly designed to face asymmetric warfare threats and will be inducted in both the Turkish and Indonesian armed forces. Developers also hope to market it in other countries, not least in the Middle East and Central Asia. The KAPLAN MT program, which began in 2014, is part of a defense cooperation arrangement between Ankara and Jakarta and meets the latter’s need for a low-cost tank, at a time when the Indonesian government is facing budget problems. Further, during the defense fair in Istanbul last month, Turkish STM and German ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems announced they would offer Indonesia a variant of the Type-214 diesel-electric submarine. The two defense manufacturers are building the Type-214 for the Turkish Navy at the Gölcük naval shipyard near Istanbul.

In October 2015, Pakistan had announced its decision to acquire eight Type 41 Yuan-class diesel-electric submarines, half of which may be built in Pakistan while the other half would be made in China and transferred. According to Mr. Small, who visited Delhi recently, China’s $40 billion investment in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will make a larger naval presence in the Gwadar port a necessity. However, he added there were “benefits for India” if the CPEC resulted in an “economically stable Pakistan”. “One mustn’t discount the benefits to the region too, if China is able to restrain Pakistan’s activities in Afghanistan.” Mr. Small pointed to Pakistan’s statement of support to China over the South China Sea verdict as another significant marker of the relationship, but added that concerns in India about China’s forays in the Indian Ocean were “premature.” In stronger position “Asia Pacific peace weighs more heavily for the Chinese leadership, intrinsically, at the moment. You have the pattern of submarines in Sri Lanka, Maldives, and in Pakistan and I think they expect to be able to expand their presence in the Indian Ocean, but they are substantially weaker there. The Indians and the Americans are in a substantially stronger position there,” Mr. Small said. Ties between India and China have been under a strain for several reasons, including the economic corridor that India has objected to as it traverses through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. On China’s opposition to India’s Nuclear Suppliers Group membership, Mr. Small believes Beijing will continue to stick to its stand that India’s membership was contingent on a “process”. However, he added that if a process would allow India to become a member later this year and would open a door for Pakistan, it would be a “harder call” for China to hold out. cpec, pakistan navy, china pakistan economic corridor, china pakistan, economic corridor, pakistan china, navy pakistan, pakistan and china, pakistan navy ships, pak china relations, china and pakistan, pak china economic corridor, pakistan navy news, pakistan submarines, china economy news, pakistan china news Channel Link: youtube.com/c/Globalconflict7 The Temperature of the Air on the Bow of the Kaleetan by Chris Zabriskie is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://chriszabriskie.com/uvp/ Artist: http://chriszabriskie.com/

European planemaker Airbus says it is the dominant aircraft supplier there, winning 80 percent of all new business in the Asia-Pacific region last year. At the Singapore Airshow, Airbus bosses said they were optimistic about more orders, despite worries about the economies of emerging markets, many of which are located there. Airbus CEO Fabrice Bregier told reporters: "With an average increase in passenger traffic of six percent per year for the entire region for the next 20 years, and I beli... http://www.options-trading-education.com/24351/profitable-oil-tanker-businesses/ Profitable Oil Tanker Businesses By www.Options-Trading-Education.com There is always a bull market somewhere, or so the saying goes. While the price of crude oil has plunged oil drillers, oil exploration companies and big oil companies in general have taken a big hit. Why then are there profitable oil tanker businesses in the midst of pain in the oil patch? Bloomberg Business writes about how oil tankers are successful in a world with too much crude oil. The most destructive oil crash in a generation is giving ship owners a billion-dollar windfall. With the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries abandoning output limits in a drive for market share, ships that carry as much as 2 million barrels a trip are in demand to haul crude from the Middle East to Asia and North America. While oil prices fell about 35 percent in 2015, average earnings for these carriers jumped to $67,366 a day, the most since at least 2009, according to Clarkson Plc, the world’s largest shipbroker. “The stars are aligned for us right now,” Nikolas Tsakos, the chief executive officer of Tsakos Energy Navigation Ltd., said in an interview of Bloomberg’s New York offices, adding that falling oil prices will likely stimulate demand and cargoes next year. Tanker analysts are predicting the rate boom will persist for many of the same reasons oil forecasters are bearish. OPEC shows no sign of reversing its market strategy, and Iran has outlined plans to ramp up its exports once economic sanctions against the country are lifted. At the same time, the U.S. just repealed a four-decades old limit on its exports. With on-land inventories already at record levels, this could mean more barrels will eventually be stored on ships, further increasing profit, said Tsakos. Many options traders are waiting for signs of a recovery in oil prices in order to purchase calls on crude oil futures and oil stocks. It would seem that another profitable avenue for options trading might be the companies that ship crude oil. How long will this boom last and what stocks should you trade? What Stocks to Trade in the Profitable Oil Tanker Businesses Tsakos Energy Navigation Ltd. (TNP) gained 4% this last year and may do better in the months ahead. However, the options trading profit in this stock appears to be in its fluctuations as it has traded between $6 and $10 a share in the last year. Google Finance lists other shippers. • NAT, Nordic American • GNRT, Gener8 Maritime Inc • OSGIQ, Overseas Shipholding Group • TK, Teekay Corporation • GASS, StealthGas Inc.CPLP, Capital Product Partners L.P.TOPS, Top Ships Inc. • STNG, Scorpio Tankers Inc. • TGP, Teekay LNG Partners • EURN, Euronav NV Take a look at the individual companies and you will see that not all are doing well. However, the basic argument that these companies are being paid to ship more oil and to store it in their vessels and that this will lead to profits seems to be valid. Getting in and Getting Out The nice part about trading options for profitable oil tanker businesses is that you can limit your risk, providing that you are buying calls or puts and not selling them. To the extent that you believe this sector will be volatile and are not sure which direction prices will go a time honored approach is to use a long straddle and buy calls and puts on the same stock with the same expiration date. https://youtu.be/HtqSwX-hNa4
